Reef Advantage Calcium ™ is a non-corrosive (pH 8.3-8.6) optimized blend of ionic calcium, designed to restore and maintain calcium to levels found in natural seawater. Calcium and carbonates are essential for all coral growth. If one of the two defects is present, coral growth will stop, followed by a rapid decline in coral health.

Reef Advantage Calcium ™ also contains magnesium and strontium in amounts that are proportional to typical usage ratios (100: 5: 0.1, Ca: Mg: Sr). This allows one to retain these two important elements while maintaining calcium. Unlike lime water, Reef Advantage Calcium ™ has no corrosive pH and the magnesium will not deplete. Used as indicated, it will not deplete the alkalinity.

Use of Seachem Reef Adv. Calcium

BEGINNER: Use 5 g (1 level teaspoon) twice a week per 150 L (40 US gallons). For precise dosing, use the Seachem Digital Spoon Scale. Dissolve in at least 250 ml (1 cup) of fresh water. Check calcium every 2 weeks and adjust the amount or frequency accordingly.

ADVANCED: Check the calcium level and follow the dosing schedule above until calcium is set to 380-420 mg / l. Every 5 g / 150 L increases the calcium by approximately 12 mg / l. Quantity or frequency can be adjusted, but no more than 10 g / 150 L per day. Next, use as required to retain calcium.

EXPERT: Set a continuous drip system after determining the calcium consumption. Use the following formula to determine how much to add to your top water: m = vc / 400 (m = gram to add to top-off water, v = volume of the tank in liters, c = increase in calcium amount in mg / L). [For reference: 1 gallon = 3.8 liters, 5 g = 1 teaspoon].

DO NOT OVERDOSE: Excess calcium can increase the loss of carbonate alkalinity. Do not mix directly with a carbonate supplement. It is best to add calcium and carbonate additives on alternating days or with an interval of at least 30 minutes.
