Seachem Catappa Tea Bags

Catappa tea bags from the Indian almond tree (Terminalia catappa) help mimic the natural environment of bettas, shrimp, and other aquarium inhabitants. Catappa tea bags provide a source of tannins and other organic compounds that help lower pH and impart a mild color to the water, mimicking the conditions of habitats with acidic water and abundant leaf litter. Not suitable for human consumption.

Usage

Boil one sachet in 1 liter of water for 10 minutes, or until the desired extract color is achieved. Allow the extract to cool to aquarium temperature and pour the required amount directly into the aquarium or mix it with prepared water for water changes. When using for the first time, gradually add the extract over 2 to 3 days and check that the pH remains within the range suitable for the aquarium inhabitants. You can also add 1 sachet per 40 liters of water to an external filter, such as a Seachem Tidal Filter, for a gradual release. Check the pH and remove the sachets when the desired color is achieved. Chemical filter media such as activated carbon can remove substances from Catappa tea bags.
