Seachem Cupramine

Cupramine ™ effectively destroys Oodinium, Cryptocaryon, Amyloodinium, Ichthyophthirius and other ectoparasites from both fresh and marine fish. It is superior to copper sulfate, chloride and citrate: it is non-acidic, less toxic to fish, remains in solution and does not contaminate the filter bed. It is superior to chelates: it is fully charged (ionic), active at low concentrations and is removable with carbon.

There is more than a four-fold concentration gap between the minimum therapeutic dose (0.2 mg / L) and the toxic dose (0.8 mg / L). Cupramine ™ is easily removable with chemical filtration. It is very effective and safe in both fresh water and seawater.

Indication

Cupramine ™ is suitable for the treatment of various ectoparasites of freshwater and marine fish. Below are some of the more common infections that can be treated with Cupramine ™. Keep in mind that many diseases and infections show similar physical and behavioral symptoms, such as pinched fins, lesions, loss of appetite.

Therapy

Before handling

Remove all invertebrates - these are extremely sensitive to copper and cannot tolerate treatment with copper-based medicines. Disable UV filters, ozone filters and remove chemical filtration such as MatrixCarbon ™ and Purigen®. Do not use in combination with other medicines. Do not use products that contain reducing agents (conditioners, ammonia binders, etc.) while using Cupramine.

Therapy

If the bottle has a dropper, use 20 drops (1 ml) per 40 L (10.5 US gallons) on the first day, wait 48 hours and then repeat. On non-drip caps, each inner ring is 1 ml. Use half a dose in fresh water. The final copper concentration is 0.5 mg / l (0.25 mg / l in fresh water). Leave at this concentration for 14 days. Do not re-dose without testing (MultiTest ™ Copper). If the tank has ever been treated with an ionic copper (for example, copper chloride, sulphate or citrate), test the copper level after the first dosing. Although most fish tolerate Cupramine ™ to 0.8 mg / L, it is not recommended to exceed 0.6 mg / L copper.

Complete the entire treatment

Ich, velvet and many other parasites spend much of their life cycle as a cyst that is immune to medication and hides in the substrate of your aquarium. Remember that you have to complete the entire treatment, even if you don't see any parasites on the fish!

After treatment

Cupramine ™ can be removed using carbon or CupriSorb ™. Leave the copper-absorbing media in the tank for at least a week after the copper concentration reaches 0 to ensure that all traces of the medication are completely removed.

Benefits of Seachem Cupramine

  • Copper treatment for external parasites
  • Active at low concentration (does not precipitate)
  • Tied on amine so it's not so toxic to the fish
  • 100% removable with carbon or Cuprisorb
