Nitrate is extremely important for the nutrition of microfauna and corals. When present in sufficient quantities it promotes "biological filtration" and improves the color and health of the coral.

Because bacteria and other microscopic organisms can take up carbon and phosphorus, sufficient nitrogen is necessary.

With the increased efficiency of filtration systems, aquariums with low and very low nutrient levels are becoming more common. These systems are often nitrogen deficient. If a system is deficient in nutrients, it means that the "biological filtration" is not running as efficiently as it should and nutrients such as PO4 are likely to rise and become pollutants unless other filtration methods are used.

NitroPlus 10x supports microbial growth and reproduction and enhances biological filtration by allowing microscopic plankton and bacteria to take up carbon and phosphate. These bacteria can then be exported through mechanical filtration or used as food by other organisms in our aquariums such as sponges, corals, mussels, tunicates, etc.

NitroPlus 10x is a natural source of NO3 that can be dosed to the aquarium in a controlled manner to achieve an ideal NO3 value. We recommend using NitroPlus 10x if your nitrate value is below 5 ppm.

Before dosing NitroPlus 10x, we recommend using reliable and accurate nitrate test kits to determine the nitrate level in the aquarium.

1 ml NitroPlus 10x increases the NO3 value by ~1 ppm in 100 liters of aquarium water.

Once the nitrate value has been determined, we recommend increasing the NO3 value by only 1-2 ppm per day by dosing the desired amount and waiting 24 hours to test the NO3 value. This procedure should be repeated until the desired NO3 value is reached.

NOTE: If you have an original NitroPlus bottle, 10ml will increase NO3 concentration by ~1 ppm in 100 liters of aquarium water.
