Lysmata wurdemanni (peppermint shrimp)

The peppermint shrimp (Lysmata wurdemanni ) is a shrimp of the Hippolytida family.

The Peppermint Shrimp (Aiptasia eater) grows to about 6 cm and mainly eats aiptasia and partial anemones, for which it is often kept in aquariums as a cleaning crew. The shrimp grows up to eight centimeters long. It is a hermaphrodite and lives in pairs. An adult animal can reproduce sexually as either a male or a female, but begins life as a male. However, the species cannot self-fertilize.
