Elacatinus figaro (Barber goby) - Tank Bred

Elacatinus figaro, better known as the Barber goby, is a small reef goby. The Elacatinus genus consists of small, brightly colored gobies that also have a symbiotic relationship with large fish, acting as cleaner fish. This helps the large fish remove ectoparasites and fill the goby's belly with their main food source: parasites. They have a white belly and a horizontal black stripe from the mouth all the way to the caudal fin, and another from the head all the way down the back to the base of the tail. In between, the body is bright yellow.

These fish can't really clean an ich outbreak, but they can help keep the fish parasite-free and prevent further outbreaks. Therefore, they should never be used as a solution, but only as a preventative measure. Constant cleaning can sometimes stress a fish, but usually it doesn't cause any problems and only helps the fish. Feeding the Evelynae well will likely prevent them from constantly cleaning. They don't need large fish and can live in a nano aquarium, but make sure they can eat several times a day. Even better, they should be placed exclusively in an aquarium with sufficient zooplankton.

Tank Bred, what does that mean?

This fish is aquarium bred and will adapt to your aquarium more easily than a wild caught specimen!
