Tunze Skimmer type DOC9410

Seawater aquariums produce waste, the amount of which depends on the number of living organisms, fish population and feeding. Through an effective skimming system, organic waste material, the so-called DOCs (Dissolved organic Carbons), can be removed. In high concentration they are harmful to any aquarium biotope. the DOC skimmer effectively removes these compounds from the water circuit, better than a bio-mechanical filter, meaning that by removing proteins before bacterial degradation, crystal clear water is retained and an increase in nitrate and phosphate is reduced.

The skimmer cup also contains the foam reactor and can be easily removed. Surface suction at the surface to remove film. Compact housing protects the interior and the reactor against light and algae. Silencer for exceptionally quiet operation.

In 1963 Tunze developed the first series-produced protein skimmer with its own air production. In this rotary Venturi skimmer, a hard jet of water or a pressure pump was used to produce a constant fine mix of air bubbles, which is passed into an easy-to-clean skimmer head after an effective waste system removal. used for removing protein particles from the water.
The refilling of the aquarium is then automatically drawn in by the so-called molecular compensation pressure (diffusions).
