Saltwater aquariums produce waste products, the amount depending on the number of living organisms, fish population and feeding.
An effective skimming system will allow the removal of organic waste material, the so-called DOCs (Dissolved Organic Carbons).

In high concentration they are harmful to any aquarium biotope. the DOC skimmer effectively removes these compounds from the water circuit, better than a bio-mechanical filter, which means that by removing proteins for bacterial degradation, crystal clear water is retained and a rise in nitrate and phosphate is reduced.

The Comline DOC Skimmer 9016 is designed for use in seawater and mixed and soft coral aquariums up to 1600 liters (290 USgal.)
