Colombo Marine Silicate Test

Professional droplet test for accurately determining silicate content in seawater. Thanks to the clear visual instructions, included test tubes, and accessories, the test is easy to perform. The measuring range is between 0 and 4 mg/l. The package contains enough for approximately 40 tests.

General guidelines

• Make sure the test tube is clean before use
• Clean the test tube immediately after use
• Measure the water volume as accurately as possible
• Keep the dropper bottle completely upright while dosing
• Avoid having air bubbles in the droplets

Test procedure

1. Take a 10 ml water sample
2. Add 5 drops of SiO2-1 test solution, shake and wait 2 minutes
3. Add 5 drops of SiO2-2 test solution, shake again and wait 2 minutes
4. Add 1 scoop of silicate powder and shake
5. Wait 5 minutes
6. Determine the SiO2 value using the supplied color chart

Reading the test

After adding all the test fluids, place the test tube on the provided color chart and look through the tube at the chart from above. Read the color in indirect light and avoid direct sunlight. Compare the color of the water sample to the colors on the chart. The closest color indicates the corresponding value.

In practice, the color will usually fall between two values. In that case, determine the sample's color range to estimate the most accurate silicate value.
