Colombo Marine pH Test

Professional droplet test for accurately determining the pH value in seawater. Thanks to the clear visual instructions, the included test tubes, and accessories, the test is easy to perform. The measuring range is between pH 7.6 and 8.6. The package contains enough for approximately 40 tests.

General guidelines

• Make sure the test tube is clean before use
• Clean the test tube immediately after use
• Measure the water volume as accurately as possible
• Keep the dropper bottle completely upright while dosing
• Avoid having air bubbles in the droplets

Test procedure

1. Take a 5 ml water sample
2. Add 5 drops of pH test liquid
3. Shake the test tube
4. Determine the pH value using the supplied color chart

Ideal pH value

The ideal pH for a marine aquarium is between 8.0 and 8.4. If the pH is too low, Colombo Marine KH+ can be used to raise it. A pH that is too high is rare, but can be lowered by performing a partial water change. Always check the pH of the fresh marine water first.

Reading the test

After adding the test fluid, place the test tube on the provided color chart and look through the tube at the chart from above. Read the color in indirect light and avoid direct sunlight. Compare the color of the water sample to the colors on the chart. The closest color indicates the corresponding value.

In practice, the color will usually fall between two values. In that case, determine the sample's color range to estimate the most accurate pH value.
