Colombo Marine Calcium Test

Professional droplet test for accurately determining the calcium content in seawater. Thanks to the clear visual instructions, the included test tubes, and accessories, the test is easy to perform. This titration test allows for accurate measurements and is particularly easy to use with the Colombo test stirrer. Depending on the calcium level, the contents of the package are sufficient for approximately 40 tests.

General guidelines

• Make sure the test tube is clean before use
• Clean the test tube immediately after use
• Measure the water volume as accurately as possible
• Keep the dropper bottle completely upright while dosing
• Avoid having air bubbles in the droplets

Test procedure

1. Take a 5 ml water sample
2. Add 5 drops of Ca-1 test solution and mix. A white precipitate will form at the bottom of the test tube.
3. Add 1 scoop of Ca-2 test powder (green tube) and shake. The water sample will turn dark red to reddish-purple.
4. Place the plastic tip on the 1 ml syringe and fill it with 1 ml of Ca-3 test solution. An air bubble above the solution is normal and serves to compensate for the volume in the tip. Slowly add the solution until the sample turns blue.
5. The amount of Ca-3 test solution used in milliliters gives the calcium content according to the table in the manual. The calcium content can also be calculated by multiplying the number of milliliters used by 500.

Calcium value calculation

Example: if 0.7 ml is needed to change the colour from red or purple to blue, then the calcium content is 0.7 x 500 = 350 mg calcium per litre.
