The living alternative to living rock

Until now there was no alternative to live rock. Then came CaribSea's LifeRocks. Fossil aragonite rock with a bacterial coating, which shortens the break-in phase compared to living rock and creates a long-lasting, stable microclimate. And all this without ecological concerns, with a lower nutrient load and incredible design freedom. The LifeRock Shapes consist of 2 Arches, a Cave and a Donut, conveniently packed in a box. With the different stones you have various options to expand existing reef structures, beautify them or start a new reef structure. The Arches are ideal for creating bridges or arches in the reef, but also as small, free-standing reef arches. The caves are ideal hiding places for fish and the donuts are ideal as an opening in a reef wall to swim through or as an entrance to a cavity in the reef.

Although few people say it out loud, the amount of live rock available on the market exceeds the amount that can be obtained from legal sources. LifeRocks are sustainably produced and guaranteed not to destroy existing ecosystems. LifeRocks are covered with a reddish bacterial film. This makes them look like living rock with a layer of calcareous red algae. What is much more important, however, is that LifeRocks become revitalized living rocks due to the bacterial coating. The biofilm, which consists of permanent stages of different bacterial strains, allows transport and storage in a dry state. Aquascaping also offers completely new design possibilities: you can fully concentrate on the structure without having to ensure that the stones do not dry out.

Once the LifeRocks arrive in the water, they come to life. This makes them more than just a visual focal point for fascinating reefs - they are a reef that lives and filters and provides the optimal microclimate for invertebrates and fish. LifeRocks are absolutely silicate-free and introduce no other chemical surprises into the water. Compared to living rocks, they also exhibit a lower nutrient load!

The aragonite rock grew within a functioning ecosystem.
