The 500 ml container of Tropical Marine Power Advanced KH/Alkalinity is a state-of-the-art, self-preparing marine additive intended to increase the KH/Alkalinity level (bicarbonate level) in marine aquariums. Specially designed for larger tanks mainly inhabited by stony corals.

Alkalinity is one of the most important components of a healthy saltwater environment, but unlike in nature, where levels are nearly constant, home aquariums suffer from frequent fluctuations that are detrimental to the well-being of the aquarium ecosystem. In a healthy marine aquarium, the level of bicarbonate ions (HCO3-) decreases continuously. Bicarbonate ions are the main source of building material for coral skeletons, of which calcium carbonate CaCO3 is the basic component.

It is necessary for coral growth to maintain proper and consistent levels of KH (bicarbonates). The natural alkalinity level on coral reefs is about 7 dKH. In most home aquariums the KH level should be kept as constant as possible between 7 and 10 dKH.

It is not recommended to increase KH levels too high or too quickly as it can be dangerous for LPS and SPS coral species and can also negatively affect biofiltration in the aquarium. Regular water tests help to maintain consistent, accurate readings.

Dosage

Marine Power Advanced KH/Alkalinity is ideal for use in popular supplementation programs.

Preparation of 1 liter of supplement:

• Use a kitchen scale to weigh 84 g of the preparation
• Pour 800 ml RODI water at room temperature (20ËšC) into a container with a volume scale
• Add 84g MARINE POWER ADVANCED KH/ALKALINITY to the container filled with water and mix until the crystals are completely dissolved
• Top up the bowl to 1 liter (1000 ml) with RODI water
• If you need more liquid, please use the table below (only use RODI water)
  • 2 liter supplement - 168 g of the powder / 1600 ml water, top up with water to 2000 ml
  • 3 liter supplement - 252 g powder / 2400 ml water, top up with water to 3000 ml
  • 4 liter supplement - 336 g powder / 3200 ml water, top up with water to 4000 ml
  • 5 liter supplement - 420 g of the powder / 4000 ml water, top up with water to 5000 ml
