The Pseudocheilinus hexataenia, better known as the six-stripe wrasse, is a popular and colorful reef dweller beloved by marine aquarists worldwide. With its vibrant color pattern of bright red and blue horizontal stripes across its body and a bright green tail, this fish is a real eye-catcher in any marine aquarium.

Features:

  • Maximum size : approx. 8 cm
  • Temperament : Generally peaceful, but can be territorial towards conspecifics or other wrasses
  • Behavior : Active, curious and constantly looking for food
  • Habitat : Reefs in the Indian Ocean and the western Pacific Ocean
  • Aquarium requirements : Minimum aquarium size: 200 liters

Application in the aquarium:

The six-stripe wrasse is ideal for keeping in a reef aquarium. It even helps control unwanted parasites like planaria and small polychaetes, making it a natural pest control agent. Its active behavior makes it constantly visible, and its compact size makes it a good fit for medium to large aquariums with ample hiding places among live rock.

Note: This fish jumps out of the aquarium easily. A well-sealed lid/net is strongly recommended.
