Wrasse are one of the most popular fish species kept in marine aquariums. Halichoeres species, such as the Tail-spot Wrasse, are somewhat more difficult to keep because they are quite sensitive to transport and can sometimes be finicky eaters.

The Rainbow Wrasse grows to about 18 cm in length and, once acclimated to the aquarium, is a real asset.

These fish need a thick sandy bottom to sleep in and to hide in when they feel threatened.

Dwarf wrasses are quite active swimmers and should ideally be kept in a larger aquarium. They are also excellent jumpers, so it's recommended to place them in a closed tank or cover them with a net.
