Acanthurus leucosternon – also known as the powder blue surgeonfish – is a colorful marine fish from the surgeonfish family (Acanthuridae). This species is native to the Indian Ocean, from the Maldives to western Indonesia.
Features:
- Color : Bright blue body with a yellow dorsal fin and a black facial mask. The pectoral area is white, which is also reflected in the species name leucosternon (Greek for "white breast").
- Length : Up to about 20–23 cm.
- Behavior : Active and territorial, especially towards conspecifics or other surgeonfish. It is a very lively swimmer.
- Diet : Primarily herbivorous – feeding on algae that grow on the reef.
- Habitat : Coral-rich reefs at depths of 1 to 25 metres.

The powder blue surgeonfish is popular in marine aquariums for its striking colors, but requires a large aquarium (at least 400 liters), good water quality, and ample swimming space. It is susceptible to stress and diseases such as marine ich (Cryptocaryon irritans).
