Since Hans-Werner Balling, product developer at Tropic Marin® for over 12 years, published his results in 1994 for improved calcium and carbonate supply in reef aquariums with stony corals, shell-forming mussels, red calcareous algae and other organisms with high calcium content and carbonate requirements, the Balling method firmly established as a procedure. With the BIO-CALCIUM line, which has been very successful for many years, Tropic Marin® was the first to offer an innovative implementation of the balling method in effective and safe products to increase calcium and carbonate concentrations.

Now the range has been expanded with the BIO-CALCIUM ORIGINAL BALLING salts. The three components of the balling method are now available individually in 1 kg packs and as a starter pack in a set, giving aquarists the option of individually adapting calcium and carbonates to the aquarium and dosing independently of each other. The ion balance in the water can only be maintained by supplying all three components and thus creates the best conditions for good growth of corals and red lime algae.
