What is the difference between our refractometer and other refractometers you may ask yourself?

Nearly all, if not all, refractometers currently available to the aquarium hobby are designed to measure saltwater (sodium chloride or brine) and not 'seawater'.

Seawater consists mainly of sodium chloride, but also of other elements such as magnesium and calcium, which will change the refractive index slightly and give a slightly different result.

Ocean Store Refractometer Superior has a scale that corresponds to seawater and is therefore much more accurate and clear to read .

Where other scales range from 0 to 100 ppt, our scale ranges from 0 - 40 ppt. Truly within the seawater range.

After extensive development this new refractometer from Ocean Store has been created. This refractometer will indicate the true salinity after being properly calibrated (with osmosis water) and results in a much higher accuracy than previously achievable.
