Beautiful appearance and impressive performance

CaribSea Seaflor Special Grade is not only bright white sea sand in all its facets, but also a decorative highlight and high-quality “miracle mineral”. CaribSea aragonite sand is a natural soil substrate of excellent quality. With Seaflor Special Grade you get the ideal bottom substrate for reef building with a classic running-in phase. Without any chemical additives, the mineral properties of aragonite improve the healthy functionality of your pool. The optimized composition of different particle sizes offers you the desired design freedom and ideal living spaces for your animals. Adding other special grain sizes or sand types, such as. B. CaribSea Aragamax opens up the endless variety on the basis of which beautiful aquarium worlds are created.

From the ground up to a healthy reef aquarium

With aragonite sand from CaribSea you create the basis for a healthy ecosystem in which the residents can develop in all their glory.

Choose CaribSea Aragonite in different shapes, particle sizes and grain sizes as desired. The bright white aragonite sand is impressively beautiful in itself, but is of course also effective for use in the filter basin. Substrates mixed with a few larger pieces of reef sand and small mussel shells create the typical “debris/tidal zone” of Caribbean reefs. Larger sections increase the stability of tunnel structures and reduce collapses. This is a real delight for well builders, gobies, pop crabs and all other cave builders in your aquarium.

Aragonite – unique sand from nature

Aragonite occurs as a purely natural product on the Bahama Banks, where it is formed during the metabolism of algae and bacteria. It precipitates due to a biochemical process and floats over the Bahama banks, where it sinks to the ocean floor. Nearly 2 billion kilograms of new aragonite is created every year. In the natural form that we offer, Aragonite is a thoroughly sustainable product.

Why oolitic sand is ideal for the ecosystem in your aquarium

With aragonite sand you create the best conditions in your saltwater aquarium, so that the inhabitants feel comfortable, thrive and remain healthy. Because it has something crucial that calcite or dolomite does not have: the natural oolitic (egg-shaped) grain makes this sand pleasantly soft. Aragonite sand is therefore suitable for digging animals such as gobies, crabs and sea cucumbers. But hard corals and 'difficult' plants, such as tall seagrass, also grow particularly well there. The natural, round reef sand is ideal for the “Deep Sand Bed” (DSB) method.

The highly porous aragonite is available in different grain sizes, with the smallest grains being less than a millimeter in size. These small grains of sand offer the great advantage of having a larger surface area for bacterial colonization than other sand. Aragonite in a cube of one cubic centimeter has a surface area of no less than approximately 8000 square meters! Because of so much biomass, aragonite is unbeatable when it comes to reducing nitrates, nitrites and ammonia.

Recommended by Triton and other marine biology institutes

Experts repeatedly emphasize the importance of aragonite as a substrate. Just like in its marine home, aragonite also comes into action in your aquarium when the pH drops below 8.2, the value of natural seawater. When the water becomes acidic, the substrate dissolves and minerals and trace elements are released, such as: B. Free of calcium, strontium, magnesium and iodine. Corals absolutely need these substances to form their skeleton. The pH value will then return to the normal range and your aquarium will remain stable. Completely natural and without chemical additives. This is one of the many advantages of aragonite over calcite or dolomite.

Only aragonite can do that: the 'miracle mineral' has a filter capacity that is 30 times higher than pure ornamental sand such as sand. B. Calcite or dolomite. Anyone who relies on sustainable aquarium farming will choose Aragonite from the start. Unlike other substrates, you almost never have to replace real reef sand and you save on limewater and lime reactors. Add a little sand if necessary and enjoy your unique stable ecosystem in the aquarium.

Naturally from scratch – environmentally friendly and sustainably produced

On the sandbanks of the coral reef you can see the fascinating cycle of nature: they are constantly changing. Aragonite from CaribSea comes exclusively from self-renewing sources
