An excess of heavy metals in the water is toxic to aquatic life. These metals can come from the water source, from food, from artificial seawater mixtures, corrosive metal equipment, magnets, pumps, etc. Sudden mysterious disorders in fish, corals and other invertebrates can occur when heavy metals reach a toxic threshold.

MetaSorbTM UHC is made with proprietary high-capacity polymers developed for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Superfund Program. The polymers are insoluble in water and non-toxic. They quickly bind metals and permanently remove them from fresh and salt water, making it possible to restore water quality.

MetaSorb UHC is a fine powder packaged in a small fabric media bag that is easily found in any area where a large flow of water facilitates contact with the polymer. Simply place the bag in a filter canister, hang it from the rear power filter or allow it to flow through parts of a sump or filter chamber. After a few days, MetaSorb UHC can be removed and discarded. MetaSorb UHC can be reused several times for pre-treating new water or newly mixed artificial seawater.
