The Maxspect Nano-Tech Clear Cube is a tourmaline-based brick that breaks down DOM (dissolved organic matter) in aquarium water by dissolving and dissociating water as a result, leaving your aquarium water clearer for a longer period of time compared to granular activated carbon.

Nano-Tech Clear Cube is a tourmaline-based cube that has some unique water purification capabilities, by dissolving and dissociating water, breaking down DOM (dissolved organic matter) and keeping your aquarium water clearer for a very long period of time.

Clear Cube is not an absorbent like Granular Activated Carbon or GAC, it clarifies water by breaking down dissolved organic matter or DOM, removing the yellowish tint in the water column.

In contrast, because Clear Cube is not an absorbent – which tends to saturate within a few days or a week – Clear Cube has a very long-lasting effect, keeping your aquarium water crystal clear for longer.

1. Increases the ability to dissolve water. Tourmaline atmospheric oxygen increased as the electrical charges generated by the tourmaline lead to the general reaction:

6(H2O) + O2 + DOM → 8(H+) + 4(OH–) + 4(O2-) + DOM → 4(H2O) + 4(OH–) + DOM

The first arrow indicates the natural dissociation of the water, the second is a result of excessive electrical charges generated by the tourmaline, as the DOM binds to the OH ions which constantly shift the balance to the right.

2. The simple dissociation of water. The electrical charges generated by the tourmaline would have the general reaction:

3(H2O) + DOM → 2(H2O) + (H+) + (OH–) + DOM → (H3O+) + DOM + (H3O2–) → (H3O+ + DOM) + (H3O2– +DOM)

The first arrow indicates the natural dissociation of water, the second is a result of excess electrical charges generated by the tourmaline pushing the ions H3O+ and H3O2- binding DOM to the right, constantly shifting the equilibrium.

3. Direct electrostatic effect. DOM has a surface that is also covered by electrostatic forces (depending on the nature of the DOM). It is likely that the forces generated by the tourmaline's electrical charges are greater than the electrostatic forces that hold the particles of DOM together, causing the DOM to no longer maintain integrity and break down.

4. Highly energy efficient activities. The weak energy emitted by tourmaline (4+14 m) can break down water – water consists on average of clusters of 36 +38 water molecules, the water passes through tourmaline and 3 +6 water molecules. This allows gas or heavy metals to be released into the cluster, leaving the water virtually free of impurities.

5. Anti-fungal and anti-bacterial. The tourmaline content, together with the ionization of water, has an antifungal and antibacterial effect.
