PNS ProBio contains live Purple Non-Sulfur bacteria ( Rhodopseudomonas palustris ), a beneficial and naturally occurring bacterium found in freshwater, brackish, and marine environments. This photosynthetic bacterium helps stabilize the ecosystem in aquariums, aquaponics, and other biological systems.

Supports a stable ecosystem

The bacteria play a vital role in balancing both the nitrogen and carbon cycles. This effectively processes waste and improves water quality. At the same time, the bacteria serve as a natural food source for small organisms in the aquarium.

Probiotic effect

Purple Non-Sulfur bacteria have been used successfully for years in intensive aquaculture and aquaponics systems. They can help improve water quality and support the health of animals and plants. They also enrich living food cultures and can serve as a direct food source for bacteria-eating organisms such as amphipods and filter feeders.

Use in aquarium or aquaponics

As an inoculant for aquariums or aquaponics systems:

• Dosage: 1 bottle (16 fl oz) per 400 gallons of system water
• This equates to approximately 1.25 ml per gallon of system water
• Add in a place with strong water flow

For optimal effectiveness, it is recommended to disable UV sterilization and ozone for the first 24 hours after dosing. Repeated dosing is possible for continuous feeding of microfauna or for managing nutrients and dissolved organic matter.

Enrichment of live food

PNS ProBio is readily consumed by many types of live food, such as ciliates, rotifers, copepods, and Artemia. To enrich zooplankton cultures, approximately 5 ml per gallon of culture water can be added about one hour before feeding.
