For optimal performance of EcoTech VorTech flow pumps such as the MP10, MP40, and MP60, correct alignment and the use of the correct dryside spacer are essential. Correct installation prevents vibration, noise, and potential damage to the pump.

Important warning

Never run a VorTech pump out of water. Because this type of pump is designed to operate submerged, running it without water can damage the pump.

Installation steps

1. Measure the glass thickness
First check the thickness of the aquarium glass so you can choose the right spacer.

2. Choose the right spacer
Select the correct dryside spacer. The required spacer varies by model (MP10, MP40, or MP60) and glass thickness.

3. Place the spacer on the dryside
Attach the spacer to the dryside motor before mounting the pump to the aquarium.

4. Choose the correct mounting position

• Do not place the pump too high to avoid sucking in air.
• Do not place the pump too low to avoid stirring up the sand bed.
• Avoid obstacles such as stones or decorations near the pump
• The more open space around the pump, the better the water circulation

5. Mount the pump
Make sure the pump is turned off before installing it. Attach the wet and dry sides to the aquarium and use the safety tab (hanging tab).

The hanging tab prevents the dryside motor from falling to the ground if the pump becomes detached. If you don't mount the tab above the pump, ensure the distance between the tab and a surface is less than half the distance the motor could fall.

6. Check the alignment
Adjust the position of the dryside and wetside until excessive vibration or noise is no longer audible.

7. Program the pump
After installation, you can configure the desired flow mode and settings via the controller or app.
