The Chromis retrofasciata, better known as the Blackband Chromis, is a colorful and active reef fish native to the Indo-Pacific region. This fish stands out with its bright yellow body and a contrasting black horizontal band running from the eye to the tail. Its peaceful and sociable nature makes the Blackband Chromis an excellent choice for both beginner and experienced marine aquarists.

This species thrives in groups of at least five individuals. In a school, they exhibit natural behavior and create a lively spectacle in the aquarium. They primarily swim in the mid- to upper water layers and thrive with other peaceful reef fish.

The Chromis retrofasciata typically grows to about 6 to 7 cm in length and is relatively easy to keep. They have few dietary requirements and will accept dry, frozen, and live foods. Provide ample swimming space and hiding places in the aquarium, such as live rock or reef structures.
