The Aqua Medic Calcium Reactor KR 400 is a hermetically sealed system. The flow rate is low. A controlled supply of CO2 dissolves the calcium carbonate present in the reactor. This releases calcium and (bi)carbonate ions in a form that corals can absorb, stabilizing the carbonate hardness (and thus the pH).
The reactor can be placed both inside and outside (e.g., underneath) the aquarium. For a constant water supply, the use of the SP 1500 dosing pump is recommended. The Calcium Reactor KR 400 is designed for the connection of a pH electrode. Combined with a pH controller or pH computer, it ensures optimal reactor operation and economical CO2 usage. The reactor is filled with hydrogen carbonate, a calcium carbonate with an extremely low phosphate content.
