Red Sea DipX is a highly effective coral dip for safely introducing new corals

A simple 15-minute bath in DipX before placing a new coral in the aquarium will drive out unwanted “hitchhikers”, preserving the safety of your reef.

New corals often come with unwanted “hitchhikers” which can be hidden deep in the crevices of the corals. These various small creatures are usually invisible to the naked eye and once in the aquarium they can spill over to other corals and damage your delicate reef ecosystem.

Over the years, hobbyists have used generic dip solutions such as fresh water, iodine, and even household sanitizers, all of which repel some hitchhikers, but not all.

Over the past few years, we've grown aquariums with infested corals and compared a wide variety of commercially available dips and other repellent ingredients, examining both their effectiveness and their overall safety for the corals.

The result is Red Sea DipX – a unique blend of essential oils, without inorganic disinfectants. Red Sea's testing has shown that DipX is completely safe for all types of corals and more effective than any other solution tested.

Corals dipped in Red Sea DipX still repelled unwanted “hitchhikers” even though they had previously been dipped in other solutions. On the other hand, corals dipped in other solutions after being dipped in DipX did not repel anything.

Can I use Red Sea DipX in my aquarium?

Absolutely not! Dip-X may only be used in a separate bath! It should not be used in an aquarium. In heavily infested aquariums (where infestation is not limited to a few individual corals) it is highly recommended to disassemble all corals and rock work and submerge them in large external containers

Can I use DipX directly in a quarantine tank for a longer period of time?

New. Corals may be submerged in a DipX bath for up to 15 minutes at a time. The DipX dip solution can be reused for up to four batches of corals/rocks, but must be discarded within 2 hours of preparation.

Will DipX repel the eggs of the flatworms and slugs?

No, the Chitin shell of the eggs protects them from all coral dips.
Eggs are usually located on the exposed parts of the skeleton on the underside of the colony and may not be visible during inspection. It is recommended to place the coral in a separate quarantine tank for 22 days, repeating the dipping procedure on day 11 and day 22. larvae can survive for several days without a host and can swim between colonies.

Can I use DipX on live rocks?

Yes. Live rocks can introduce many “undesirable hitchhikers” into a new aquarium, including bristle worms, Asterina starfish, vermetic snails, mentis and gun shrimp, etc. Therefore, it is highly recommended to immerse live rocks in a DipX bath before putting them in. your aquarium.

Can I use DipX with anemones?

In general, anemones such as Carpet, Bubble tip, Sebae and Candy anemones usually do not carry hitchhikers. However, Dicosoma and Ricordea anemones are attached to rocks that can carry hitchhikers. Therefore, the use of DipX is recommended before introducing them to a new aquarium.

Can I use DipX with other invertebrates such as starfish, mussels, worms etc?

No, DipX should only be used for corals and live rock!

Can I use Red Sea DipX for fishing?

Absolutely not! DipX is Coral-Safe but can be harmful to fish.
