Pterapogon kauderni - Tank Bred

Cardinalfish are very nice fish for both the novice and experienced aquarium enthusiast. They are easy to keep and not at all aggressive.

The Banggai Cardinal Fish is a very peaceful swimmer, and can be kept as a pair or a school.

Since they are crepuscular animals, they only really come out when the light is a bit less intense, but of course, if the light is adapted to these animals, they can be seen all day long.

They are mouthbrooders, meaning the males take the fertilized eggs in their mouths and incubate them there. If you want to raise the young, it's often helpful to separate the father with the eggs. In the wild, cardinalfish live in symbiosis with the Diadema antillarum, seeking protection among the spines whenever danger threatens.

The Jewel cardinalfish eats plankton, mysis, artemia and pellet food.
