The Ocean Store Algae Reactor A120 is specially built to grow algae in seawater and plants in freshwater. Chaetomorpha (Spaghetti Algae) is grown by many marine aquarists to balance and maintain nitrate and phosphate!

It is absolutely sufficient to harvest a handful of algae from time to time to maintain the biological balance in an aquarium - an economical and simple alternative to many chemicals or resins.

We have had research carried out in Turkey into the best light for algae growth. Several prototypes have been developed and tested and with the light in this reactor the best growth has been observed over a longer period of time. The tests were also carried out with Caulerpa as well as Chaetomorpha seaweed.

The reactor features a unique design that allows macroalgae such as Chaetomorpha to grow in high yields, leading to the effective nutrient export of unwanted nitrates and phosphates.
