Mastertronic Essentials is the latest addition to our range of automated water testing equipment. MT Essentials can communicate with our other products, such as Alkatronic, Dosetronic, Powertronic (smart power strip), and Solartronic (patented dynamic lighting fixture).

With the success of Mastertronic, our all-in-one autotester that can test 6 parameters*, such as dKH, Ca, Mg, NO3, PO4, and OLI, and control these along with light intensity via Solartronic. This enables the best possible automation based on live data, simplifying reef maintenance.

With Mastertronic Essential (MTE), we've gained insight into the needs of most aquarists, including freshwater users. We've taken it a step further and are expanding our product offering. We continue to serve both new and experienced users who need the full range of testing equipment in a single device.

What Mastertronic Essential tests for:

Calcium (Ca) Accuracy / Precision (+/-): 6 mg/l / 6 mg/l.

These are the building blocks of the reef system, and reefers strive to achieve a balanced level, along with alkalinity. These two elements react more slowly than alkalinity, so regular Ca and Mg measurements 2-3 times a week, while maintaining consistent levels, are sufficient. However, it's important to maintain a balanced balance of the BIG 3 (KH, Ca, Mg) for healthy growth and coloration.

Magnesium (Mg) Accuracy / Precision (+/-): 20 mg/l / 20 mg/l

These are the building blocks of the reef system, and reefers strive to achieve a balanced level, along with alkalinity. These two elements react more slowly than alkalinity, so regular Ca and Mg measurements 2-3 times a week, while maintaining consistent levels, are sufficient. However, it's important to maintain a balanced balance of the BIG 3 (KH, Ca, Mg) for healthy growth and coloration.

Alkalinity (dKH) Accuracy / Precision (+/-) 0.1 dKH / 0.05 dKH.

Alkalinity (dKH) is the most important element that changes rapidly within a few hours. Simply checking the dKH can tell you if other equipment is functioning properly.

• 1) Faulty calcium reactor pump
• 2) Doser not working properly
• 3) Lights not on (lights activate dKH consumption)
• 4) Imbalance of other elements (Mg/Ca)

OLI stands for (Organic Level Index) and is derived from Focustronic and is only available in Mastertronic. This measures the yellowness of the water in the system and displays a trend. When the level is higher than normal, it indicates that the aquarium may need maintenance, such as a water and/or carbon change.

Phosphate (PO4) Accuracy / Precision (+/-): 0.01 mg/l / 0.005 mg/l.

Phosphate is part of a reef aquarium's nutrient balance. It's important to keep it within an optimal range (0.05–0.1 mg/L). Phosphate levels that are too high or too low can cause an imbalance and lead to coral bleaching or increased algae growth, ultimately killing the corals in the system.

Nitrate (NO3) Accuracy / Precision (+/-): 0.5 mg/l / 0.1 mg/l.

Nitrate is an important parameter for maintaining stable nutrients in a reef aquarium. Testing it at the same time of day is a good indicator of whether nitrate levels are becoming unbalanced. There are several rules for the N:P ratio, and this can be easily achieved with regular, automated testing.

OLI tests

OLI stands for Organic Level Index (OLI) and is derived from Focustronic and is only available in Mastertronic. It measures the yellowness of the water in the system and displays a trend. When the level is higher than normal, it indicates the aquarium may need maintenance, such as a water and/or carbon change.

New Focustronic reagent

Focustronic reagents are designed for the Mastertronic Essentials test machine. These are very high-resolution reagents with consistent measurements on the Essentials! (Not yet compatible with Mastertronic)

But Focustronic hasn't limited the MTE to just their reagents; you can also use their own reagents as a backup solution, so you don't have to stop testing.
