The Powertronic is a smart powerbar and has 3 settings per socket. It can be set to AUTO or ON/OFF depending on the equipment it controls. When set to AUTO it can work as a 24 hour schedule and also reacts based on tested parameters by Mastertronic and/or Alkatronic.

Auto Mode is a feature rich function that allows the user to set rules to trigger on/off and even the duration of the triggered event. For example, if NO3 is too low, it can turn off your filter or skimmer for a few hours or days to let the nutrients come back up.

Basic philosophy

In the past, automation around the aquarium was very limited because users did not have the live data of tested parameters to trigger the necessary actions. With our range of automatic testers, such as Alkatronic and Mastertronic, we can query more than 10 parameters in real time!
Each parameter can trigger more than 1 action, such as an extra dose via Dosetronic, or switching a power outlet on or off on the Powertronic. This allows real-time automated actions without user intervention in daily activities, while keeping the necessary parameters under control.
With the Focustronic All in One app, installation couldn’t be easier! Below is an example of what you can do.

Case 1:

Mastertronic measures the dKH and is above the high reference level and the system is running a calcium reactor. The user has set as a rule that when dKH is above 8.5 dKH, socket 1 on the Powertronic is switched off. This is the feed pump of the calcium reactor. When the dKH is back in range, the socket is switched on again.

Case 2:

One of the features of the Powertronic is to set a schedule based on the time of day in 30 minute intervals. Based on the above case of a calcium reactor setup, there will be a daily fluctuation of dKH during the 24 hours because the reactor output is kept constant, while the dKH uptake by the corals can vary during the light on and off periods.
During the night, the Powertronic can reduce the swing by having an on/off schedule to reduce the night swing.

Case 3:

Nutrients play a huge role in reef maintenance and a protein skimmer is the most common way to export excess nutrients. As in the above cases the skimmer can be set to a schedule and also turned off for a period of time (ie 1 hour) when NO3 or PO4 is too LOW. This allows nutrients to build back up and reduces coral starvation which is likely to cause bleaching or STN.
