A striking addition to your marine aquarium

The Tiger-tail Sea Cucumber , officially Holothuria (Mertensiothuria) hilla, is a special and useful addition to the marine aquarium. This sea cucumber stands out immediately due to its striped pattern and elongated body. In addition to its unique appearance, it actively contributes to a healthy ecosystem in the aquarium.

Functional soil dweller

Sea cucumbers, such as Holothuria hilla, play an important role as natural cleaners. They filter detritus, food residues, and organic waste from the sand, keeping the substrate clean and healthy. This prevents the accumulation of harmful substances and contributes to stable water quality.

• Ideal for aquariums from approximately 150 liters
• Suitable for mixed reef aquariums
• Improves flow in the sand bed
• Helps reduce algae and waste products

Care and placement

The Tiger-tail Sea Cucumber is undemanding but requires a stable, mature aquarium. Provide a sandy substrate in which it can move around and forage. Avoid keeping it with predators such as triggerfish or large shrimp that could harm it.

• Thrives best at a water temperature between 22-26°C
• Not toxic, but it can release toxins under stress or in case of poor water quality.
• Avoid extreme fluctuations in salinity and temperature
• Compatible with most peaceful reef inhabitants

Why choose Holothuria hilla?

This sea cucumber is not only a visually interesting bottom dweller, but also actively supports the biological balance in your aquarium. Through its efficient method of filtering sand, it contributes to a cleaner and healthier environment for your other reef inhabitants.

• Unique appearance due to tiger pattern
• Low-maintenance and functional
• Increases biodiversity in the aquarium
