What do algae look like?

Extreme algae growth can be easily observed with the naked eye and can take various forms. Most algae are slimy, hairy or brush-like, powdery or float dissolved in the water.

Usually they are green or reddish/brown in color.

Algae growth often starts with a thin brownish film of algae that covers the entire aquarium. If left untreated, algae will become free-floating in a short time
develop a dark green slime layer that will cover plants, decoration and ground cover.

Why is excessive algae growth a problem?

A small amount of "good" algae is natural in an aquarium and can even be beneficial for your fish.
Temporary blooms can often occur spontaneously, especially in new aquariums, and they often go away of their own accord when the nutrient medium is depleted. The dead algae must be removed before they can negatively affect the water as a result of the rotting process. However, it is the persistent and excessive algae growth that poses problems.

Extreme algae growth looks unsightly because the algae settles on glass and decoration, obstructing the view of the fish and plants. It can also affect water quality which can cause fish to develop gill problems.

Dosage:

20 ml (±10 ml) for a maximum of 300 liters of aquarium water.
