The JF Aftershock is a high-end Chalice (LPS) known for its intense, metallic glow and characteristic "shockwave" pattern. Expect a deeply colored base with electric splashes (gold/orange, lime, teal) and contrasting "eyes" that glow spectacularly under blue light. The plate-shaped, undulating growth makes a luxurious centerpiece on lower rockwork or sandy areas.

Care & placement

• Light : Low to medium (approx. PAR 70–150). Always start low and photo-acclimatize to prevent bleaching.
• Flow : Light to moderate, diffuse; no direct, hard jet on tissue.
• Diet : Responds well to targeted feeding 1–2× per week with fine LPS food / microplankton (preferably in the evening).
• Placement : Lower to middle zone on stable rock or sand; leave some space all around.

• Temperature : 24–26 °C
• Salinity : 1.025
• KH : 8–9 dKH
• Calcium : 420–450 ppm
• Magnesium : 1300–1400 ppm
• Nitrate/Phosphate : low but measurable (NO₃ 2–15 ppm, PO₄ 0.03–0.08 ppm)

Tips & details

• Night sweepers : Chalices can deploy longer tentacles at night—keep a few inches away from neighbors.
• Color retention : Stable parameters + soft, constant flow = maximum shine and contrasting “eyes”.
• Light rendering : The Aftershock shows its most beautiful fluorescence under actinic/blue LED (±14–20K).
