Achilles Clam Holder
Achilles Clam Holder offers a preformed, hard substrate where font shells can attach. The stone is approximately 10 cm long and 6 cm wide and is made of ceramic.
With the Clam Holder it is very easy to move the animal afterwards instead of the animal getting stuck to the bottom. Light acclimatization, maintenance of the aquarium or treatment - without damage to the byssal wires - has never been so easy and safe!
In addition, the chance is much smaller that parasites and fire or brush worms can penetrate through the byssus opening, so that your font shell has less chance of disease in the long term.
Use
Gently clean the bottom of the font shell with a brush without touching the foot. Place the font shell on the Achilles Clam Holder.
Tips and hints
- It can take a few hours to a few days for the baptismal shell to attach itself to the stone.
Note: Fonts are sensitive to changes. Slowly adjust them according to the drip method and place them in the beginning in a place with little light. Every week the font can be moved higher or the light intensity increased. Do not move your font shells too often to avoid unnecessary stress.
