The Protoreaster linckii , also known as the Red Starfish or Knobbed Starfish, is a striking addition to any marine aquarium. This starfish is native to the Indian Ocean and the western Pacific Ocean. With its bright red to orange body and characteristic black knobs on its arms, the Protoreaster linckii is a real eye-catcher in any saltwater aquarium. It is not only beautiful to look at but also contributes to the aquarium's biological balance by cleaning up detritus and leftover food. Its peaceful behavior and unique appearance make this starfish popular with both novice and experienced marine aquarists. Please note: the Protoreaster linckii requires specific care and is not suitable for nano aquariums or aquariums with many delicate corals.

Features

• Striking red to orange color with black bumps
• Reaches a size of 20 to 30 cm
• Suitable for medium to large marine aquariums (min. 250 litres)
• Not reef safe: may eat soft corals, sponges and small invertebrates
• Feeds on detritus, small animals and food scraps
• Relatively easy to care for with stable water values
• Life expectancy: 5 to 10 years with good care

Care

• Ensure stable water values: temperature 24-28°C, salinity 1.023-1.025
• Regular feeding with frozen food, fish meat or special starfish food
• Do not keep with aggressive fish or predators.
• Sufficient hiding places and a sandy bottom are recommended
• Do not expose to air during placement or movement.
• Be careful with copper-containing medicines, they are poisonous to starfish.
