When a fluorescent tube is mounted above an aquarium, all rays emitted from the top half of the tube are directed away from the water and wasted.
By using a Giesemann Reflector on the tube, it is possible to get the maximum efficiency out of the tube, because otherwise lost light energy is returned to where necessary, to the aquarium.
The Giesemann reflectors are made of sturdy corrosion-resistant high-gloss aluminum and the design is such that they can be easily mounted on the aquarium hood. The reflector has a unique Gull Wing shape designed to prevent the light from bouncing back through the tube as much as possible, resulting in maximum light output and minimum energy wastage. It is possible to tilt the reflector so that the light can be directed as desired without loss of light output.
