The Chelmon rostratus, also known as the Copperband Butterflyfish, is a real eye-catcher in any marine aquarium. With its striking vertical copper-colored bands and long, slender snout, this fish is not only graceful but also fascinating to observe.

This butterflyfish is native to the coral-rich waters of the Indo-Pacific Ocean and thrives in a well-equipped reef aquarium with ample hiding places and swimming space.

Features:

  • Maximum length: approx. 20 cm
  • Requires a well-established marine aquarium of at least 300 liters
  • Peaceful character, but sensitive to stress
  • Diet : Live or frozen foods such as mysis and artemia; may be difficult to acclimate to foods in captivity
  • Needs lots of hiding places
  • Not reef safe (eats tube worms for example)
  • Can be kept as a pair.

Note: The Chelmon rostratus is notoriously difficult to acclimate to aquariums and requires some experience. It's not a beginner's fish, but with the right care and environment, it can be a wonderful addition to a saltwater aquarium for years to come.
