AF Natural Substrate is a nutrient-rich, peat and clay-based substrate base for aquascapes and planted aquariums. Immediately available micronutrients and plant-based foods create a fertile, natural environment, ideal for long-term support and growth of plants.

AF Natural Substrate is very suitable for the development of a healthy root system and to help aquatic plants flower. The natural cation exchange capacity (CEC) of peat and clay also absorbs all surplus nutrients from the water and makes them available through the roots, or leaves them back in the water as soon as they are exhausted. Features and benefits: The carefully selected peat provides excellent conditions for the root system and provides plants with all necessary minerals and trace elements. Clay improves the texture and acts as a basis, which results in an excellent consistency. Just like peat - clay acts as a natural layer for storing excess nutrients, and maintaining biological balance in the tank.

The contents of the micronutrients have been supplemented under laboratory supervision to ensure that aquatic plants have an abundance of trace elements, while the chemical balance of the tank remains under control. AF Natural Substrate is rich in micronutrients, so for the first three months, Aquaforest does not recommend the use of micronutrient-containing fertilizers unless the plants show visible signs of deficiency.

Use of Aquaforest Natural substrate 10 l

• ① Install the heating cable if used.
• ② Spread the substrate on the bottom of the tank and compact it to a 2-2.5 cm thick layer.
• ③ Cover with approximately 3 cm of gravel or sand.
• ④ Carefully fill the aquarium with approximately 15 cm of water. To prevent disruption of the substrate, we recommend placing a plate or dish on the bottom and directing the water jet onto it.
• ⑤ Place the plants in the substrate.
• ⑥ Fill the aquarium with water.
  10 L AF-natural substrate must be sufficient for a 200-liter aquarium with a base of 100 cm x 40 cm. Substrate can lower and stabilize the pH of the water, therefore it is recommended to use a special test or probe.
