Re-designing the plastics in the Hydra series has resulted in two major advantages: greater efficiency and better aesthetics. Efficiency improvements reduce the need for active cooling, resulting in a longer component life, and by reducing the tread depth, the presence of light in the aquarium is improved.

Water resistance is a big advantage in aquarium lighting - and although the new Hydras are not waterproof, design improvements should make them more resistant to accidental splashing and ambient moisture.

Output in terms of PAR, color mixing and distribution are all improved with the new fixtures. The inclusion of more LEDs results in a more complete full spectrum and TIR lenses that give the light the most efficient and effective result in both more POP colors and a slightly wider output area. LED placement and lens geometry mix the light from the clusters so that color separation is further reduced. A special moonlight LED and channel has been added in the new Hydra 32HD luminaires. This provides independent moonlight programs that deliver the desired aesthetic without being part of your primary schedule or risking exposure to your cattle.
