A TDS meter measures the amount of Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) in a solution.
This is used to determine the purity of the water produced by your RO unit and provides an indication of when your DI resin or membrane life is ending. It is also a handy digital thermometer to measure or calibrate the temperature of your tank.
Because dissolved ionized solids such as salts and minerals contribute to the conductivity of a solution, a TDS meter measures the conductivity of the solution, which is then converted to a TDS value.
TDS is directly related to the quality of water, ie the lower a TDS number, the purer the water. As an example, purified water with reverse osmosis will have a TDS between 0 and 10, while tap water will vary between 20 and 300.

TDS Meter and Digital Thermometer
A TDS Meter measures the amount of Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) in a solution.
This is used to determine the purity of the water produced by your RO unit and will give an indication of when your DI resin or membrane life is coming to an end. It is also a handy digital thermometer to measure or calibrate the temperature of your tank.
Since dissolved ionized solids like salts and minerals contribute to the conductivity of a solution, a TDS meter measures the conductivity of the solution which is then converted to a TDS reading.
TDS is directly related to quality of water ie, the lower a TDS figure, the more pure the water. As an example, reverse osmosis purified water will have a TDS between 0 and 10, whereas tap water will vary between 20 and 300.

D&D Reverse osmosis unit
D&D Reverse osmosis units are of very good quality. Reverse osmosis water is essentially free of chlorine, nitrates, phosphates and heavy metals. It is ideal for making seawater and for supplementing evaporated aquarium water. Tap water is generally full of these contaminants and the effect on the aquarium can be very serious, depending on how the water is in the environment. If tap water is used for the aquarium, this can lead to algae and diatom problems, which must then be combated with other methods.
Measure & control

Osmosis water
Phosphates and nitrates are present in tap water. Our body will not be affected by this, but there are other requirements for marine aquarium water.
